November 3, 2016 to November 5, 2016
From Ensenada to Bahia Tortugas (Turtle Bay) we have traveled
292 miles, 54 hours, 23 engine hours, and approximately 31 hours of
sailing. We ran the water maker twice
for a total of 7.5 hours. On average we
make 18 gallons per hour with the engine running and a little less when
sailing. We have noticed that the water
here has less particulate matter than up north.
Our filters have not needed cleaning or changing.
Fog lingering on shore. Day one we had limited visibility on and off due to fog.
Sunset on day one. At night we keep a log of the longitude, latitude, heading, and speed.
Sailing downwind wing on wing
Brad fishing while sailing
Got one! We get a quick look at it before letting it go.
Sunrise on Saturday morning
Arrived Bahia Tortugas – Turtle Bay
November 5 & 6, 2016
Looking south across Bahia Tortugas
North shore off our anchorage. The dinghy is ready to go.
While we wait for the wind to calm down we are entertained by the
fishermen at work. Here they are casting
their net and below bringing in the catch.
We wanted to visit the community at Bahia Tortugas, but the
wind never let up enough to go ashore.
We had to be content watching the activity on the water which included a
flock of pelicans.
