It was a good night at
anchor. With the negative tide this
morning, more rocks and shore are showing.
We leave Fly Basin at 08:00. It
is overcast, but no rain to speak of.
Heading west through Browning Channel, and out Smith Sound, we pass Egg
Island where the chart plotter shows a tide table.
CAPE CAUTION
After rounding Cape Caution we
wet sails. The sails are not too happy
as the ocean swells are making it difficult to hold the wind. We turn on the radar as the fog bank is encroaching. Our course is set across Queen Charlotte
Strait directly for Nigei Island.
CRUISE SHIP
We alter course briefly as approaching Gordon
Channel to avoid the path of the Celebrity Infinity Cruise Ship. The water smooths out and the current pulls
us as we enter Browning Passage east of Nigei Island.
BROWNING PASSAGE
We turn the corner and slide into
Port Alexander back tracking nearly the width of Nigei Island to get to the
head. Here we anchor in 60-70 feet.
PORT ALEXANDER
PORT ALEXANDER IN SUNSHINE
It is another hour or two before
we see sunshine. Our travel time today
is 6 hours, engine hours 5, and nautical miles 36.4. Our GPS coordinates: 50⁰51’385 N, 127⁰39’927 W.
