Secure night in Forward Harbor,
almost every one leaves before us. It
takes a little forward motion to dislodge the anchor. As we are leaving the chart plotter loses our
GPS fix. There are multiple recurring
alarms not to mention the loss of trip data and the difficulties in following
our position and using the auto pilot. One
more thing to trouble shoot kept us from sailing down Johnstone Strait as
planned.
NO GPS COORDINATES
The wind is a good 14 knots
behind us and would have made a good sail.
The seas are following, so even though rough, it is comfortable. Our travels today take us down Wellbore
Channel, past Whirlpool Rapids.
CHANCELLOR CHANNEL
Out Chancellor Channel the wind
picks up so we button up the cockpit. We
follow Johnstone Strait without much traffic past Turn Island at the south end
of East Thurlow Island. Turning into
Nodales Channel our destination is Cameleon Harbor on Sonora Island.
FRIENDLY DOLPHIN IN CAMELEON
HARBOR
The best part of the day is the
dolphin that greets us playing in our wake and following us into the anchorage
at Handfield Bay.
HANDFIELD BAY INSIDE CAMELEON
HARBOR, SONORA ISLAND
We will attempt to stay up tonight
to see the meteor shower. Low mountains
and few clouds here, so viewing might be good. We are running low on bread, so
I baked a loaf from frozen dough. It is
black on the bottom and sunken on top, but better than nothing. We ran the water maker for the entire
traveling time and did not fill the tank.
We believe it is close and should be able to accomplish this tomorrow. Engine hours 4.2, nautical miles 27.4. Our GPS coordinates: 50⁰20’782 N, 125⁰18’992 W.
