The thunderstorms predicted last
night did not develop into more than a few sprinkles and a SE wind. The backup electronics are removed from safe
keeping in the microwave. Our state of
charged remained 77 overnight with only the anchor light and one small
fan. We’re bidding our time this morning
as any way you leave Waiatt Bay there are rapids. At 11:00 the anchor is pulled up as we wash
two days of mud off the chain. Behind
another sailboat we just make it through the narrow and shallow passage before
another sailboat comes into the bay.
HOLE IN THE WALL
We’re going through the hole in
the wall which is a deep channel between Sonora and Maurella Islands with
narrow rapids at the west end. According
to the current table it should be slack, but it looks like it is still
ebbing.
IN CALM CHANNEL
Once in Calm Channel we divert
from our planned tract to lengthen the trip and put more time on the water
maker. We’re taking Sutil Channel on the
east side of Read Island. Our
destination is Bird Cove inside Evans Bay.
BIRD COVE, EVANS BAY, READ ISLAND
The wind has yet to change from
the SE which puts us on a lee shore when anchoring. As the sun sets there is no wind and the boat
turns with the bow to the head. The
flag stitches are coming out so I make repairs.
Brad cleas the inside water maker filters. Engine
hours 3.7. nautical miles 21.1. Our GPS
coordinates: 50⁰12’108 N, 125⁰05’486 W.
