The boat stayed put in Sargeaunt
Passage despite the changing current. At
05:30 the water seemed still. The boat
has turned sideways to the channel, which has fog at both ends. We leave at 09:00, heading out Knight Inlet
to Chatham Channel. We get a four knot
push at the narrows as we line up the fore and aft channel markers. Once through, we head west to Havannah
Channel, ducking in at Port Harvey.
FOG ON KNIGHT INLET
PORT HARVEY
The anchor is set in 40 feet on
the east side in the cove before Range Island.
There is a marina at the head, but since they don’t carry fuel, we see no
point in docking today. We take the
dingy over to the store to see if they have any bread, no luck. Midafternoon
we have a front row seat to watch the parade of boats headed for the
marina. It looked like rain earlier, but
now the sun is shining brightly. There
hasn’t been much of a breeze today, despite the predicted 20 to 30 knots in
Johnstone Strait. This is our last night
in the Broughtons. Engine hours 2.9,
nautical miles 18.1. Our GPS
coordinates: 50⁰33’425 N, 126⁰16’245 W.
