QUIET MORNING WADDINGTON BAY
It is cloudy with a chance of
rain. Mid-morning we go for a dingy ride
around the bay before pulling up anchor.
Not much going on, it is very quiet.
The anchor is stuck well in the mud and pulls the bow down a bit before
letting loose. We weave our way through
the islands, between Innis and Tracey, then Misty Passage between Tracey and
Eden, scoping out possible anchorages as we go.
We are traveling a short distance today.
Our destination is Cullen Harbour outside Booker Lagoon.
The bottom here is rocky and it
takes a while for the anchor to grab hold.
Before we have a chance to settle, the park rangers come over and we
have a nice chat. They are patrolling
the area, logging kayaking sites and checking for crabbing and kayaking
permits. Engine hours 1.7, nautical
miles 8.9. Our GPS coordinates: 50⁰46’332 N, 126⁰44’419 W.
CULLEN HARBOR
After lunch we exchange the 2 HP
engine for the 9.9 and take the dingy into Booker Lagoon. It is a huge area, yet only two boats have
taken up anchorage there. The area is
flooding as we leave and for a while there is no forward progress with the
engine at full throttle. Just as we get
the engine and dingy stowed, the rain starts, no wind though.
