Quiet morning, the wind has yet
to pick up. Only sand on the chain and anchor.
Out in the channel there is a mild breeze on the nose, not good for
sailing yet. The watermaker takes only
2.25 hours to fill the tank. We’re
running the inside length of Galliano Island, past Active Pass where we start
to see more ferries. There was one
mayday call back in Nanaimo Harbor. It
turned out to be a dragon boat practice drill, but the plane that reported an
overturned boat with people in the water, the coast guard, and all the boats
that responded thought it was real. We
get a two knot push through Navy Channel.
Half way out Plumper Sound, we turn into Port Browning on North Pender
Island. Engine hours 4.3, nautical miles
24.8. Our GPS coordinates: 48⁰46’313 N, 123⁰16’108 W. We are a stone’s throw from the U.S. Border
now. This trip is nearly finished. Our minds are starting to focus on the
repairs in Port Townsend and the journey down the coast. Soon it will be time to get back to work in
Coos Bay. In the evening we are treated
to bagpipes playing from somewhere nearby on shore.
