Putting on the foul weather gear we
ready the boat for departure. The rain
from last night continues lightly.
Taking out the trash filling the water tank, running the sheets, turning
on the engine, letting loose the dock lines and we’re off. As we motor out of port there is plenty of
work stowing the dock lines and fenders, lashing the steps to the deck, and
closing the gate and running the safety line.
LEAVING PORT MCNEIL
SAILING ACROSS BLACKFISH SOUND
It isn’t long before there is a break in the
clouds in the direction we’re headed. At
the east end of Malcolm Island we set the jib, eventually cut the engine and
have a nice ¾ hour sail across the bottom of Queen Charlotte Strait to
Seabreeze Island.
